• Okay, while yes, Charlie’s parents are a bit problematic with using Nick as a bargaining chip, and of course we aren’t a fan of Darcy’s mom, can we just appreciate the lovely parents that do exist in this show and how my heart aches when I see them so genuinely truthful and accepting towards their kids?

Like, Tao’s mother having such a sweet conversation with her son about dating Elle and giving him good advice and encouraging him, and not once ever mentioning anything about her being trans. Even the fact that she was paying attention to her son enough to know he liked her and to know that’s what he was sad about and needed a confidence boost on. But seriously she knew Elle for years before she likely came out and transitioned and it didn’t change anything in her mind about her son dating her. No, “have you thought about the consequences?” Or anything like that. Just full on support and I just. Another scene that made me almost cry.

Also also also! Elle’s parents! We haven’t seen them much, but we do know they supported the transition and they let her switch schools. I also adore the scene when she’s about to go out and she’s trying on clothes with her mom and her mom goes “I think it’s too short” or “showing a lot of skin there” and while like yes women shouldn’t be judged for being too sexual yada yada women don’t stigmatize your daughters body stuff, the idea that she immediately put aside any thoughts of her daughters past associations and applied how she’d act towards a daughter. Wanting her to be respectful and protecting her like she would a daughter. That scene just broke me. Do you know what id give to have a parent say something slightly judgmental but in the right gender direction to me? Oh god. Or when the dad gets all protective when Tao comes to pick her up for the dance? (Again every parent should be equally protective regardless of gender but like.) the specific way he’s protective and that’s HIS DAUGHTER GODDAMIT and he’ll NEVER let her get hurt. God it broke my heart.

And of course, we all Love Nicks mom. She’s a star. “Do you have a girlfriend you’d like to invite, David?” And her wholesome acceptance of bisexuality.

I’m sure there were other good parents but these moments stood out. Tbh this season I loved the teens drama, and watching the communication between Nick and Charlie was amazing, but the parental figures and the teachers stories in the background where what made this so real and meaningful to me.

I've just finished packing for the Paris trip tomorrow!! I've been excited about it for so long - a whole week to just explore and have fun with my friends. YAY!

Plus, me and Nick are sleeping in the same room!! I know we won't really be able to kiss and be couple-y much because other people will be around, but I'm hoping we get to sleep next to each other and just chat about silly random stuff all night...
